Celebrating the music of Norman and Nancy Blake. Norman played with Bob Dylan on the Nashville Skyline lp, and worked with Johnny Cash for 40 years, up until his passing, as well as recording many classic albums of his own. An amazing picker, adept on MANY instruments, but famed for his flat-picked guitar in particular. This episode can only give a taste of the amazing talents of both he and his wife Nancy, both formidable musicians.

In keeping with my ongoing series of re-broadcasts of VINTAGE live radio airchecks from different eras, here come the wonderful Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs on the radio with the Foggy Mountain Boys in the 1950s, specifically, a Martha White Biscuit Time show from 1953 and two Pet Milk Grand Ol' Opry shows from 1959. These are all a lot of fun - Enjoy!

The early 1940s programs opened with Raymond Edward Johnson introducing himself as, "Your host, Raymond," in a mocking sardonic voice. A spooky melodramatic organ score (played by Lew White) punctuated Raymond's many morbid jokes and playful puns. Raymond's closing was an elongated...

Joey Buttler is a Honkytonk singer/songwriter from the Pacific Northwest hills of Portland,Oregon. Influenced by the original artists of the day like Hank Thompson, and Ernest Tubb, Joey writes songs that will make you either cry in your beer or toast a pint with a friend. That means actual commercials, promotional jingles, sound effects,...
